Dear Future Homeowners...
As we reluctantly depart our dear home of almost 10 years, we can’t help but reflect on the things we’ve loved about living here and will miss so dearly.
Starting with our neighborhood:
Everything we love and need is a short walk. Our favorite bar with backyard seating is 2 blocks away. ELEVEN36, a block and a half away, has the best homemade pastries, sandwiches, and locally-sourced groceries we’ve enjoyed in our 15 years in NYC. Franklin Ave., boasting some of the best bars and restaurants in the city, is a 5-minute walk. Union Market, opening soon, will also be a 5-minute walk.
The Brooklyn Botanic Garden—where we were engaged and married, and regularly stroll with our daughter—is 3 blocks away. Prospect Park is an easy 10-minute walk. The Brooklyn Museum—an incredible hub of culture and community—is 5 blocks away. The Brooklyn Central Library and Brooklyn Children’s Museum, which we frequent with our daughter, are short walks as well. If not for our jobs in Manhattan, we truly might never leave our neighborhood.
Our neighbors are kind and friendly. People say “hello” when walking down the street, and we drop by family block parties in the summer. Our local cafes, bars, and grocery stores know us by name. People are quick to lend a hand without hesitation. Crown Heights is a wonderful, welcoming community teeming with life and culture.
We barely use our car since our favorite places are so close but love the convenience and affordability of the secure lot across the street. The Franklin Ave. and President St. subway stops are a quick walk with access to 5 train lines.
Onto our beloved home:
It’s seamlessly evolved with our changing lives—from single to married life, to hosting countless friends and family members for visits and holidays, to bringing home our first child. From parental leave, to commuting to midtown, to working from home. We never imagined how perfectly 260 Rogers would adapt to every one of our life stages.
We will miss the serene, leafy view from both bedrooms. Doves and cardinals perch on the balcony, where we’ve enjoyed countless dinners, cups of coffee and glasses of wine. Most recently, the incredible light that flows through the windows and skylight from morning through sunset has made working from home a true pleasure.
As we embark on our bittersweet move to accommodate our growing family, we know we will always cherish and deeply miss our wonderful time at 260 Rogers. We hope you enjoy this incredibly special home as much as we have.
Sincerely,
The loving caretakers of 260 Rogers Ave., Apt. 4
